Members trained in our kitchen can progress to opportunities for paid work on our Catering Team.

Skills Workshops

  • Food Safety

Two-day course offsite- level 3 certificate gained. The course prepares an individual in the catering industry. Food safety hazards, controlling temperatures, food storage, food preparation, personal hygiene and premises cleaning are the fundamental topics covered in the course.

  • Safer Food Better Business Training

One to one or group training to develop skills towards Level 3 certification for Food Safety. This training can help improve the standards of any catering business and good standards are maintained.

  • Inhouse COSHH Training (Control of Substances Hazardous to Health)

Training for Food Safety and Hygiene- in line with the Food Safety & Hygiene Act 1990. This is a fast and effective way to meet your health and safety responsibilities and is suitable for anyone who comes into contact with hazardous substances, including flammable or explosive substances.

  • Inhouse Knife Training

This course provides practical advice to anybody involved in managing the risks of using hand knives whilst working in the kitchen. Mastering basic knife skills is one of the most essential parts of cooking, along with keeping your knives sharp. A sharp knife not only allows you to work faster, but safer. When your knife is blunt the amount of pressure needed to cut through food is much greater, one slip can result in a nasty injury.

  • Allergies and intolerance training.

This training is in connection to Natashas law. It is suitable for anyone who owns, manages or works in a food-related business to ensure compliance with EU Food Information. Topics cover food allergy and intolerance, how to recognise the symptoms of an allergic reaction, understand what information should be on pre-packed food labels, and what you need to consider keeping people and customers safe.

By ordering one of our catering services, not only do you get great quality delicious food at competitive prices, you also give our members the opportunity to undertake work experience, enhance their self-esteem, and train in preparation for work.
