Camden Work and Wellbeing
Camden Work and Wellbeing is designed to provide a person-centred approach to helping people find and stay in work, based on the Individual Placement and Support model.
The service works in partnership with Camden IAPT Services and Kentish Town Job Centre Plus. Referrals will only come from these sources.
Practitioners work with low caseloads to enable them to provide a high level of support across participants’ entire spectrum of support needs. A holistic initial assessment enables participants to define what their support needs are, including anxiety, depression, wellbeing, lifestyle and employability.
Participants displaying symptoms of common mental health issues are supported to access talking therapies via IAPT (Improved Access to Psychological Therapies), and all participants are encouraged to develop informal coping strategies. Where participants are already accessing IAPT services, the practitioner works closely with the Mental Health Trust to ensure a joined-up service.
For those participants with lifestyle needs (e.g. smoking cessation, diet and physical activity), practitioners signpost to appropriate support.
The key focus of delivery is on a) helping participants to remove/control their barriers to employment/wellbeing and b) supporting participants to find, and stay in, employment. There is no fixed programme length so as to enable those furthest from the labour market, and with the most complex needs, as well as those closer to work to be supported holistically. Priority needs are addressed as well as focussed, supported employer engagement and job applications.
Referrals are received directly from North and South Camden IAPT teams plus Kentish Town Jobcentre Plus. Delivery of support interventions takes place at these venues, in community locations and over the phone, according to the needs and preferences of the participant. Once in work, participants will receive unlimited in-work support for the life of the pilot.
